Senator Lindsey Graham, who is the Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman, has had a crucial role in nominating and confirming President Trump’s judge choices. And while there is one more day of her nomination hearing process, he made his sentiments known of how happy he is that President Trump nominated Judge Amy Coney Barrett.
In today’s hearing, Graham said, ‘This is the first time in American history that we’ve nominated a woman who is unashamedly pro-life and embraces her faith without apology. A seat at the table is waiting on you. I have never been more proud of a nominee than you.”
ACB, who has faced fierce questions from the left about Obamacare and pro-life issues, has consistently kept her cool. And in the most viral moment of her confirmation hearing, she held up a black notepad of just how prepared she was to answer tough questions. She has been consistent in telling the Senate Judiciary Committee that as she has not been confirmed, she cannot comment on future cases and what her stances might be.
Furthermore, as a clear for the former Justice Scalia, ACB has said that she will judge the law as written, and not bring her personal politics into the case. These responses have come as a backdrop as Democrats try to impose her positions she would take over certain hearings, and use it as a political tool.
The extent to how far the Democrats will go was exposed on Tuesday, when Senator Hirona asked ACB if she had every sexually assaulted anyone, bringing up a sharp reminder to the American people of the Kavanaugh hearings. ACB, who has adopted two children from Haiti, has also been accused of white supremacy and using Black children as “pawns.”
But all the while, ACB has kept an even tone throughout the hearings, and without notes, deflected the Democrats’ advances. Senate Chairman Lindsey Graham pointed out, “This hearing has been more Obamacare than it has about you. Obamacare is on the ballot.”
